Nilgiris: Even as Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated with great fanfare and festive joy across the country on Wednesday, August 31, celebrations have already begun in various parts of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday itself.
To mark the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, a flag parade was held on behalf of the Nilgiris District Police Department in Ooty. The march began from the Kandhal Triangle area, proceeded to Bennett Market, Rohini Junction, Lawley Institute and then around the Charing Cross Roundabout.
The Nilgiris District Additional Superintendent of Police, Mohan Nawaz led the flag march with 170 policemen comprising Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors participating.
Special security arrangements have also been made for the festive occasion of Vinayagar Chaturthi.
