Police seize 700 bottles of liquor illegally hoarded for sale; Arrest 3 employees


BJP cadres laid siege to a TASMAC outlet in Tirupur that sold liquor round-the-clock, everyday. The cadres alleged that the sale of alcohol had begun this morning at the TASMAC outlet near the Noyyal Bridge at Maniyakarampalayam, early Sunday morning.

State Executive Committee member, Chinnaswamy and the District General Secretary, Srinivasan led the BJP executives in cordoning off the pub. The protest began at 7:20 am and continued till 10:30 am. In the absence of TASMAC outlet officials, the police, led by the Tirupur North Inspector Udayakumar calmed the protesters by assuring them that appropriate action would be taken. The police also seized 700 bottles of liquor that had been hoarded for sale and arrested three employees of the TASMAC outlet in Tirupur.

BJP District General Secretary, Srinivasan pointed out that the State President Annamalai had alleged that illegal sale of liquor was being done in Tamil Nadu. "To prove it, we have caught those who sold alcohol, red-handed. If action is not taken against those who sold alcohol illegally, a protest will be held," he warned.
