Coimbatore: Two cars parked on the roadside were damaged when an old tree uprooted and fell on them in the Ramanathapuram road at Lakshmi Mill area in the city, today.
The trees which were situated a good 50 meters from the main traffic signal crashed when winds accompanied by light showers occurred in the area.
Ongoing traffic was affected for a brief time due to the tree fall, However, no one was injured in the accident.
It may be recalled that in March 2020, a woman lost her life in the same stretch after a branch from an old tree fell on her while he was riding pillion with her husband.
Hence, the city denizens have appealed to the city corporation to identify old trees in as many road stretches in the city limits and cut them down to avoid tree fall and accidents on arterial roads.
