College student dies and two others seriously injured in two-wheeler accident near Kuruchi

A private college student of Thillai Nagar, Selvapuram died and two other students were seriously injured when the two-wheeler they were traveling collided against a Tipper truck and then crashed into a roadside tree near Kurichi.

According to Police, the threesome was proceeding on a bike to college, when the mishap occurred. While Vishnu had succumbed to his injuries, Vignesh of Idayar street and Satheewaran of Sivaganga district, both pillion riders are receiving treatment at CMCH.

Vishnu was studying BBA at a private college in the Malumichampatti area. The police have registered a case and are investigating

It may be recalled in a similar accident yesterday, Rajamanickham (23) a painter of Vadavalli died on the spot and two other pillion riders sustained serious injuries when the two-wheeler they had been traveling dashed against a TNSTC bus near Pudupalayam at Thondamurthur.

According to Social activists, flouting of traffic rules and safety norms leads to such fatal accidents. Over speeding, overloading, and not adhering to traffic rules are said to be the prime reasons for the recurrence of such fatal accidents in the city.

Also, the menace of drunk driving and driving without a helmet has only increased by the day leading to such accidents say, Social activists.
