The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR &CE) officials have retrieved 7.12 cents of encroached temple lands worth Rs. 5.70 crore belonging to Karivaradaraja Perumal temple .
Coimbatore: The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR &CE) officials have retrieved 7.12 cents of encroached temple lands from a private party near Kottaimedu, here on Monday. These encroached temple lands belong to the Karivaradaraja Perumal temple . The market value of the retrieved lands is put at Rs.5.70 crores.
Acting on a complaint, a team of officials headed by Assistant Commissioner Karunanidhi, Temple Thakkar, and Executive officer Saravana Kumar inspected the encroached land, which was illegally encroached upon and converted into a shopping complex and residential plots.

The encroachment was evicted and vital temple lands were reclaimed in the operation. The retrieved land was later handed over to the temple authorities and a warning board for trespassers was also erected at the fenced site.
It may be recalled in a similar operation, the HR&CE officials had evicted the encroachers and retrieved 27.78 cents of land worth about Rs.10 crores, belonging to Sakthi Mariamman and Plague Mariamma temples at Sowripalayam recently.
