Police arrested the Proprietor of Best Future Education Centre in Rathinapuri on charges of cheating a student after promising to get him a seat in the course of his own preference at a popular city college.
Coimbatore: Rathinapuri Police arrested Selvam, Proprietor ofBest Future Education Centre, an educational consulting firm at Rathinapuri on charges of cheating a student after promising to get a college seat for him.
According to police,R. Agneeswaran(17) from Thanjavur who had completed plus two had been approached by the firm to extend services to get him a seat in the course of his own preference at a popular city college.
Though Rs.5000 was demanded by the firm for the service, Agneewaran had sent only Rs.1000 along with his original 12th mark sheet certificate.
However, the student came to know that he was duped as no intimation had been received by him from the said firm, nor the certificates returned. even after a lapse of one month.
Condemning this, parent and his supporters staged a dharna in front of the said firm, following which police intervened and a formal police complaint was also given at Rathinapuri police station.
Following investigations, the arrested person was produced in court and remanded in custody. Police are investigating whether the firm had duped other students in the same manner.
