Coimbatore: Over 50 members of Marxist Communist Party (CPM) staged an agitation in front of the South Taluk office here on Thursday demanding to fulfill a slew of issues including repair and renovation of battered roads in the city.
Led by CPM District Committee Chairman Padmanabhan, the agitators raised slogans to review the hike in property tax, and effect changes in the fixed deposit amount for availing UGDS connection.
The agitators also demanded that the contract given to Suez multinational company for distribution of water supply be scrapped forthwith.
While pointing out that only flyover works are being carried out in the city, the condition of the city roads have been totally neglected. They alleged that the rain water drains have not been laid in many places due to which flooding of streets have become a recurring issue.
