District School Education department has issued an circular to all private school authorities in the district to desist from getting indemnity bond from parents.


Coimbatore: The District School Education department has issued a warning to all private school authorities in the district to desist from getting indemnity bond from parents.

Following the alleged suicide of a 12th grade girl of a private school in Kallakurichi, a private school in Coimbatore collected indemnity bond from parents stating that the school is not responsible for any crime or untoward incidents happening to their children, while they are in the campus.

After the issue create a stir among parents and in social media, the school education department has issued a warning and a circular to all private schools across Coimbatore district.

In the said circular, the schools have been asked to abstain from collecting indemnity bond from parents testifying that the school is not responsible for the child, under any eventuality.

To the contrary, the circular clarified that schools should take full responsibility for the well being of students, while they are within the campus.

Commenting on the issue, Boopathy, Chief Educational Officer, said that stern action would be initiated against erring schools. However, we haven't received any officials complaint from the affected parents, he noted.
