Antony John (33) from Kozhiparai, Palakkad, Kerala died tragically by drowning while going fishing with two relatives including his father-in-law at Kumittipathi near K.G.Chavadi in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Antony John (33) from Palakkad, Kozhipara, Kerala along with his father-in-law Joseph Abraham (58) and cousins Joseph (35) and Stephen (32) were engaged in fishing near Kumittipathi pond near KG Chavadi, Coimbatore.
While they were fishing at the pond located near Velandavalam road, Antony sensed of a big fish caught in his nets and tried to pull it. As the net was heavier, he got down into the pond and pulled the bait.

Subsequently, Anthony Joseph swam down to the river to retrieve the bait. Unexpectedly, Antony Joseph was trapped in the slusharea and drowned.
Shocked by this, his father-in-law and his companions tried to save Antony Joseph by going down into the river. But by then, Antony Joseph completely drowned in the water.

Upon information, the firefighters rushed to the spot and recovered Antony's body after a few hours. The KG Chavadi police who arrived to the spot, investigated the incident and sent the body to Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem.
A case has been registered by the police and investigations are on.
