44 people arrested for selling liquor on Independence Day in Coimbatore; 797 liquor bottles were seized

A case has been registered against 797 bottles of liquor illegally kept for sale and 44 persons who sold them in the raid conducted by the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan.



Coimbatore: Acting on the orders of the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan, the police arrested 44 persons for illegally hoarding and selling liquor bottles in Coimbatore.

A total of 797 liquor bottles have been seized from them and cases have been registered against those involved in the sale.

The District Collector of Coimbatore, G S Sameeran had issued an order banning the sale of liquor on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day celebrations. It was announced that legal action would be taken against those who violate the ban and sell liquor.

Thereon, the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan had ordered a vigil on places to ensure liquor was not being sold in violation of the ban.

On his orders, all sub-divisional police personnel in Coimbatore District conducted a raid in Coimbatore in which 44 people were found selling liquor illegally on Independence Day and arrested.
