Shalini , the widow, who was among the spectators when the celebrations commenced, suddenly, interrupted, Collector Vineeth just after he unfurled the national flag at the Chikkanna Government Arts college grounds in Tirupur.

Even though she was stopped by the police, the Collector later summoned to hear her grievances.

While pleading her helplessness with teary eyes, Shalini said that though her husband had died long back, neither the widow certificate nor any government welfare measures were extended to her.

The Collector who promised to help her directed the officials to take prompt action on her grievance petition and report it back to him.
