75th Independence day: Coimbatore City under tight blanket of security; over 1800 policemen deployed.

Strict surveillance mechanism has been put in place with Facial Recognition system, set up in 10 vital junctions in the city. 90% of the total police strength of 2200 would be deployed for security duty within the city limits in addition to 24 police jeeps and 44 bike patrols.


Coimbatore: Security has been beefed up in the city, in view of the 75th Independence day celebrations being celebrated, tomorrow. A tight blanket of security has been thrown around important places and junctions in the city including VOC grounds, Collector's offices, airport, five railway stations.and seven bus terminuses to ensure safety and security for the planned celebrations.

The city has geared up to celebrated the 75th Independence with patriotic fervour with festoons and tricolour patterns adorning the various places in the city including Race course, RS Puram, and Railway junction



Security arrangements

A strict surveillance mechanism has been put in place with Facial Recognition system, set up in 10 vital junctions in the city, checking of theft with mobile apps is also being carried out. Foreign visitors, who have stayed in the city have also been brought under the security ambience.

According to Police Commissioner Balakrishnan a good 90% of the total police strength of 2200 would be deployed for security duty within the city limits , and 24 police jeeps and 44 bikes would be pressed into service for augmenting security and surveillance during the milestone year of independence day celebrations.



Apart from this. a sniffer dog squad, two battalions of strike force, and bomb detection squad would be kept in readiness to meet any emergencies. The police personnel would guard the city on swift basis round the clock.



The tricolour has been hoisted in government offices, educational institutions, and in all the city neighbourhoods.Orders for sweets have been placed extensively to celebrate the 75th independence day celebrations by various social organisations.
