The fire personnel are on the lookout for Chinna Kamalammal (60) of Srinivasapuram near Alandurai who went missing while washing clothes in Chithirai Chavadi check dam in Noyyal river.
Coimbatore: Fire Service personnel launched a search operation for Chinna Kamalammal (60) of Srinivasapuram near Alandurai who had gone to wash clothes in Chithirai Chavadi check dam, in Noyyal river but never returned home.
Her relatives who had gathered near the check dam had only spotted the belongings including the footwear and towel of the old lady. On suspicion that the woman may have fallen into the river and drowned, the relatives informed the Thondamuthur fire station.
The fire service personnel are wading deep in the waters for any sign of the woman, who is believed to have drowned.
The district administration and the officials of Alandurai Panchayat had warned people to not venture into the water, fearing flash floods.
