Kerala youth arrested and 750 kg of PDS rice seized in Coimbatore

Acting on a tip off Inspector Gunasekaran intercepted a Tata Ace van at Gandhi park- Thadagam road junction, here and seized 30 sacks of 25 kg rice each hidden in the vehicle to be smuggled to Kerala.


Coimbatore: Excise department officials arrested Jabesh, a native of Kerala and seized 750 kg of PDS ration rice hidden in a four wheeler.

Acting on a tip off Inspector Gunasekaran intercepted a Tata Ace van at Gandhi park- Thadagam road junction, here and seized 30 sacks of 25 kg rice each hidden in the vehicle.

The smuggler had planned to smuggle the PDS rice into Kerala and sell it there for a premium. The arrested person was produced in court and remanded in custody.
