The 'Patriotic Fort' has been constructed at K G Chavadi in Coimbatore and will be inaugurated by the Minister of Electricity, Senthil Balaji on August 14 at 10 am.
Coimbatore: The Minister of Electricity, Senthil Balaji will inaugurate the 'Patriotic Fort' in Coimbatore to mark the 75th Independence Day celebrations.
Speaking to reporters on behalf of the JaiHind Foundation, its Founder, advocate Nandakumar said, "The Patriotic Fort has been built jointly by JaiHind Foundation and Coimbatore Lions International. The opening ceremony will be held on August 14th, at 10 am.
On August 15, 2016, on the occasion of the 68th Independence Day celebrations, portraits of 126 freedom fighters were displayed at the Race Course for public and youth. The 3.5-km-long national flag was also displayed.
Similarly, in 2016, to mark the 70th anniversary of Independence, a poetry competition titled 'En Desam En Swasam' was held and the winners were awarded Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 50,000, Rs. 25,000 and 67 gold coins.
To mark the 75th Independence Day celebrations, the national flag will be hoisted on a 75-feet-high flag pole and 150 portraits of 150 freedom fighters will be permanently displayed in the public domain. An 8.5-acre stretch has been constructed at a cost of about Rs. 3 crore at the Palakkad Main Road Chavadi and its inauguration will be held on August 14th morning.
