Coimbatore: Stressing on a slew of demands including giving up privatisation of Postal department's banking services and reintroduction of the old pension scheme, the "India Post" workers struck work for a day at the Head Post office in Good Shepherd road, here.
Urging the union government's attempt to corporatise certain sections of the postal department among other demands, the National Federation of Postal Employees (NFPE) has claimed that around 4.5 lakh employees of the Postal Department in the country are on strike on Wednesday, August 10.

Accordingly, in a protest held in Coimbatore, the Postal workers demanded that the arrears of pay which had not been given to them for the Corona period should be dispersed immediately. The workers who had gathered infront of the Head Post office raised slogans to the effect.

The Head Post office wore a deserted look due to the strike of postal employees and the customers were very much affected due to the strike.
