Coimbatore: A special programme was organised at Top Slip in Anamalai Tiger Reserve in which kumki elephants decked with chess- patterned clothes were paraded to the delight of the tourists.

The programme was organised on the directions from the Field Director of ATR Ramasubramaniam to coincide with the World Elephants day (August12) World Tribals day (August 9) and the final day of Chess Olympiad being held at Mamallapuram.

Decked up with chess- board patterned clothes jumbos paraded from Seethal guest house to the tourist center, where it circled the giant Chess board replica laid for the occasion, a good five times.

The tourists who witnessed the event cheered the elephants and enjoyed the parade by clicking photos.

Assistant Field Director of ATR M.K. Ganesan inaugurated the event. Assistant Conservator of Forest Selvam, Forest Rangers, Foresters, Anti Poaching watchers and mahouts took part.
