Coimbatore: City Police arrested R. Veera Sivakumar (55) of Tirupur and M. Karthik (34) of the Nilgiris district on charges selling ganja using a BMW car, near MGR market in Saibaba colony, here.
The police tram headed by Sub Inspector Sengolnathan seized 21 kg of ganja, Rs.2.40 lakhs in case and the BMW car used to sell the contraband from the arrested duo.
According to Police, the duo were arrested as a part of intensification of police rounds in vulnerable areas from where ganja is sold to the customers. When the police on suspicion checked out the BMW car, which had been stationed in the area for a long time, they stumbled on the cache of ganja hidden in the car.
Initial inquiries revealed that Ganja had been supplied to the clandestine operators from Madurai and Theni districts to be sold in Coimbatore.The arrested duo had been produced in court and remanded in custody.
