Coimbatore: The devotees of Annanmar Pattatharasi Amman temple at Annur paraded the sacrificial domestic pigs in the streets before offering it to the presiding deity with traditional fervor.
The sacrificial animals were garlanded and paraded in the streets to the accompaniment of drum beats in Indira Nagar, Annur, which attracted the attention of the onlookers.
The parade is traditionally called as 'Komban Oorvalam" by the local people.
The festival commenced with "Poochattal" ceremony today and is celebrated once in three years. The paraded domestic pigs would be sacrificed later, and offered to the Goddess followed by a feast for the devotees, the locals told.
