HRCE officials retrieve Rs.10 crore worth of encroached temple lands at Sowripalayam

These encroached temple lands belong to Sakthi Mariamman temple and Plague Mariamman temple at Sowripalayam. The market value of the retrieved 27.78 cents of land is estimated at Rs.10 crores.


Coimbatore: The Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department

(HR&CE) officials have retrieved 27.78 cents of encroached land from a private party near Sowripalayam, here.

These encroached temple lands belongto Sakthi Mariamman temple and Plague Mariamman temple at Sowripalayam. The market value of the retrieved lands is estimated at Rs.10 crores.

Acting on a complaint, a team of officials headed by Assistant Commissioner Karunanidhi and Executive officer Rajesh inspected the encroached land, which was illegally encroached upon and utilised by one Elangovan of the same area. They evicted the encroacher and retrieved the vital temple land.

The retrieved land was later handed over to the temple authorities and a warning board for trespassers was erected at the fenced site.
