The doctors who gathered at the Coimbatore Government Medical college premises today alleged that the Government Order (GO) No 339 which was brought into practice during late former CM Karunanidhi's regime was a good one, hence sought to replace it with a new GO No: 225 which seeks to extend the working hours from 40 to 48 hours weekly.
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association members staged a demonstration demanding withdrawal of the new GO, which seeks to extend the weekly working hours from 40 to 48 hours for doctors employed in Primary Health Centres (PHCs).

While recalling the yeoman service of the Tamil Nadu Government doctors during the recent Covid-19 pandemic, the protesting doctors told that their service garnered praise from both the State and the Union Government. Hence, they exhorted to revoke the new GO, which implemented would add more working stres to the doctors at PHCs.
