Fearing public nuisance, the petitioners who thronged the Collectorate from Sriram Nagar, Kurumbapalayam Pirivu urged the Collector to stop the proposed plan to open a new TASMAC.
Coimbatore: Protesting against the opening of a new TASMAC shop near Kinathukadavu Bus Stand, the irate residents, who came to the Coimbatore District Collectorate, scattered liquor bottles before petitioning the collector against the plannedmove to open a new liquor outlet in the vicinity.

The petitioners who thronged the Collectorate from Sriram Nagar, Kurumbapalayam Pirivu said that "If the planned TASMAC shop is opened near the bus stand, the people who would gather to collect tap water from a public tap nearby would be highly affected. There would be every chance of law and order problems arising as tipplers would scatter bottles in the vicinity and also engage in quarrels."
Dissuading the collector to give up planned move they said that preliminary works for the TASMAC Shop No: 1880 should be immediately stopped.
