Coimbatore District-level Coordination Committee Meeting to discuss setting up of 'Anti-Narcotics Coordination Centre'

At the meeting, the Coimbatore District Collector stated that awareness programs should be conducted in all schools and colleges in collaboration with parents on the ill effects of drugs. Collector G S Sameeran said awareness should be created about the health condition, law and psychological activities.


Coimbatore: A District-level Coordination Committee Meeting was held in Coimbatore to discuss the setting up of an Anti-Narcotics Coordination Centre.

The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of the District Collector G S Sameeran regarding the setting up of an Anti-Narcotics Coordination Centre at the Collectorate auditorium in Coimbatore.



Speaking at the meeting, the District Collector said, "Awareness programs should be conducted in all schools and colleges in collaboration with parents on the ill-effects of drugs, and awareness should be created about health, law and psychological activities in these programs. All shops near schools should not sell tobacco products that are harmful to the body. Inspectors should also monitor wholesale and retail shops that sell medicines. He also said that legal action should be taken against medical stores that sell drugs.



The meeting was attended by the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, the District Superintendent of Police Badri Narayanan, District Forest Officer Ashok Kumar, District Revenue Officer Leela Alex, Government Medical College Hospital Principal Nirmala, Personal Assistant to the District Collector Kokila and other Government officials.
