Nanjarayan Kulam Padhukappu Iyakkam cadres stage agitation against Private School's tree planting drive.
Tirupur: Protesting against the private school authorities, which organised a tree plantation drive in allegedly encroached water body -- Nanjarayan Kulam lands, the members of NGONanjarayan kulam Pathukappu Iyakkam staged an agitation at Koolipalayam in Tiruppur district, today.

Alleging that the vital lands adjacent to 400-acre Nanjrayan Kulam, which has been declared a protected bird sanctuary have been sold to private school authorities. The land which is put at Rs.50 crore market value was sold for a meagre Rs. 1.5 crore during the former AIADMK regime.

While a court case has also been filed by the Nanjarayan Kulam Pathukappu Iyakkam to retrieve the lands from the school authorities, the members of the environmental NGO have objected to the fact that the school authorities have organised the tree planting campaign when the case is sub judice.
Condemning the school, the members of the NGO staged the agitation near Koolipalayam on the tank bund.
