He urged that the Podanur railway station be developed as a subsidiary station on par with the Coimbatore junction, which has reached its full capacity of infrastructure development.
Coimbatore: Pollachi MP K. Shanmugasundaram appealed to the Railway Board Chairman V.K. Tripathi to develop Podanur and Pollachi railway junctions on par with the Coimbatore Railway junction.
The MP who met up with the Railway Board Chairman at his Delhi office submitted a petition to this effect and requested for the reintroduction of train services at Pollachi junction which were operational before gauge conversion in the section.

The MP also appealed to introduce Kisan express from Pollachi junction via, Mumbai to Delhi to benefit the farming community of the region.
The Railway Board Chairman, who promised to look into the demands promptly called up General Manager (Southern Railway) P. G. Mallaiya and ordered him to take immediate action on the petition to fulfill the rightful demands.
