Appealing to the forest authorities to take prompt action and prevent the monkeys from entering neighborhoods, residents of Ganesh Nagar said the monkey menace has reached alarming proportions in the town, which should be checked by the authorities.
Coimbatore: Residents of Valparai town have appealed to the forest department officials to end the monkey menace being experienced by them every day.
According to the residents of Ganesh Nagar of the hill town, groups of Lion-tailed macaques (LTM), an exotic species of monkeys living in and around Valparai town have been raiding the neighborhoods.

"Over 50 LTMs are constantly roaming around in our locality, and they enter households and raid the food items and scatter things. Recently, a group of monkeys had damaged the roofings of a house", lament the residents of Ganesh Nagar.
