The neighbours who experienced a distinct smell emanating from the residence of 44-year old folk singer Radhakrishanan of Attapadi in the Palakkad district informed the Excise department officials, who promptly arrived and seized about 20 cannabis plants.
Palakkad: Kerala Police have arrested a 44- year old folk singer Radhakrishanan of Attapadi in the Palakkad district on charges of growing cannabis (ganja) plants in his backyard.

According to police, Radhakrishanan belonging to Boothivazhi tribal village in Kerala engaged in growing the cannabis plants, illegally, after he allegedly took the ill advice from a godman who said that the plants would fetch him good omen to get film opportunities.

Recently, the neighbours who experienced a distinct smell emanating from the 5- month old flowering ganja plants, informed the Excise department officials, who promptly arrived and seized about 20 cannabis plants kept and raised in plastic grow bags from his house.

Following this, Radhakrishnan was arrested and produced at a court in Mannarkadu and remanded in custody.
