Thousands of devotees thronged the Patteeswarar Temple in Coimbatore on the auspicious occasion of 'Aadi Perukku' early this morning.
Coimbatore: Devotees in Coimbatore celebrated 'Aadi Perukku' at the Noyyal River in Perur by taking a holy dip and thronging the Patteeswarar Temple to pay obeisance to their family deities.
Newlyweds throw the garlands used during their wedding ceremony in the river and then take a holy dip in the Noyyal river. Married women tie yellow sacred threads for each other around the neck for the blessing of a fulfilling, long married life, while young girls tie the yellow sacred threads after worshipping Mother Noyyal to gain blessings to find a good groom.
A large number of devotees and members of the public from various districts including Coimbatore, arrived in Perur this morning. They took a holy dip in Perur's Noyyal river and worshipped Patteeswarar at the temple in Perur.
