Dr. Rajendran, a renowned pediatrician from Coimbatore has been honored with the "NSVMC Medal" by the Pondicherry pediatrics and the Indian academy of Pediatrics (Pondicherry).
Coimbatore: The Pondicherry academy of pediatric and the Indian academy of Paediatrics (Pondicherry) have announced Dr. Rajendran as the recipient of the 'NSVMC Medal 2022' in honour of retired doctors who have rendered outstanding service in the field of medicine. The 'NSVMC Medal 2022' was presented on behalf of the Puducherry Paediatric Council with a cash prize of Rs.10,000.
The 'NSVMC Medal' which is being awarded from this year onwards, has been named NSVMC in honour of Doctors -- Nalini, Srinivasan, Vishnu Bhagat, Mahadevan and Chidambaram, denoting the first alphabets of their names.
Accordingly, the selection committee shortlisted pediatricians for providing state-of-the-art treatment in pediatrics especially in neonatal and emergency care. The list comprised of doctors not only from Tamil Nadu but also in the Union Territories of Puducherry and Karaikal.
Accordingly, Dr. Rajendran, a paediatrician who is currently professor & HOD, Department of Paediatrics, Kovai Medical Center & Hospital from Coimbatore was selected as the recipient of the 'NSVMC Medal 2022.' Noted for his training of medical staff during the Covid pandemic, thus far, Dr. Rajendran has reportedly imparted training to 13,500 doctors, 7,800 post-graduate medical students and 38,400 nurses across Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Rajendran also holds the post as Secretary, Indian academy of Paediatric (Tamilnadu state chapter) He has authored books on topics including child care and nutrition for children and mothers. Notably, he also been donating the proceeds from his books towards cancer treatment of poor children and the treatment of differently-abled children. Thus far, he has contributed to a tune of Rs.11 lakh towards the cause.
