Coimbatore City Police seized 300 painkillers, needles, 525 g of ganja, a two-wheeler and three cell phones from a gang of three men in Periyanaickenpalayam, in Coimbatore district. The trio was produced before a judge and sent to jail.

On the orders of the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badri Narayanan, a special police force has been set up to launch intensive searches to nab drug peddlers operating in the district. Special Sub-Inspectors and police officials led by the Periyanaickenpalayam Police Inspector were engaged in checking vehicles in the Pudupalayam Railway Bridge area under the jurisdiction of the Periyanaickenpalayam Police Station in Coimbatore.

The police stopped a two-wheeler in the area during a routine check and found three men carrying painkillers and needles for drugs. The trio was taken to the police station and after investigation, they were identified as Azharuddin alias Azhar (24) from Kanuvai, Sakaya Vijay (26) from Idayarpalayam and Gokul (24) from Vadavalli in Coimbatore.

The police seized 300 narcotic painkillers, needles for injecting them into the body, 525 g of ganja, a two-wheeler and three cell phones from them. The trio was produced before a judge and imprisoned.
