Members of the Coimbatore City District Congress Committee led by the District President Vakil Karuppusamy staged a protest in front of the Central Postal Telegraph office in Coimbatore, in protest against the ED's probe of Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case.

The protesters alleged that Sonia Gandhi was being harassed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) during questioning in the National Herald case and hence condemned the Modi Government at the Centre.
Corporator Shankar Krishnamurthy, the Congress party's District in-charges, Women's Wing lawyers', Youth Wing, Trade Congress and Congress workers participated in the protest and raised slogans against the Modi Government.
