AIADMK cadres protest at Coimbatore South Tahsildar's office against DMK government

More than 1,500 people participated in the protest and raised slogans against the Tamil Nadu Government in condemnation of the power tariff hike.

Coimbatore: AIADMK cadres staged a protest in front of the Coimbatore South Tahsildar's office against the hike in electricity tariff.

More than 1,500 people participated in the protest and raised slogans against the Tamil Nadu Government and condemned the power tariff hike.

The protesters led by the Coimbatore North MLA and the AIADMK party's City District Secretary Amman Arjunan raised slogans against the hike in electricity tariff and property tax.

Slogans were also raised during the protest against the cancellation of projects initiated by the AIADMK regime. Singanallur MLA Jayaram and other office-bearers were present.

Speaking at the protest, Coimbatore City District Secretary Amman Arjunan said that the AIADMK was being accused of bowing down to the BJP. "But even during the AIADMK regime, the Central Government had asked us to increase the electricity tariff but it was not increased. It was the AIADMK that had nurtured Senthil Balaji and now he has gone to the DMK and has become a beast. He does not have administrative skills and if he does not know how to manage, he should then ask Edappadi.

All the 32 DMK ministers were thinking about how to collect the fare and now the DMK government will soon hike bus fare too. They are going to announce that they are going to privatise transport," opined Amman Arjunan.

He also added that the Central Government had written 50 times during the AIADMK regime regarding power hike but the State Government was bold in not hiking the tariff.
