Unmarried person certificate is enough to get married in temples - Minister of HR&CE Sekar Babu

For marriages conducted in temples, permission will be given through e-seva center. It is enough to submit the proof of unmarried person to get married in temples.

Coimbatore: Minister Sekar Babu has said that proof of unmarried person is enough to get married in temples.

For marriages conducted in temples, permission will be given through e-seva center. It is enough to submit the proof that one is a ‘unmarried person',Minister of Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments of Tamil Nadu Sekar Babu said.

His statement in this regard states:-

“Until now, first marriage certificate was required along with other certificates to get permission for marriages conducted in temples controlled by the Hindu Religious & Charities Endowments Department.

The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has advised to get 'Unmarried' certificate issued through e-seva centers instead of first marriage certificate. Therefore, in the coming times, those who want to get married in temples, just need to get the 'Unmarried' certificate through e-service centers and submit it to the respective temples.

Appropriate instructions have also been given to the temple officials in this regard. Apart from the relevant certificate, if other certificates are required, the complaint can be made by contacting the Head Office of the Charity Department at 044-28339999.
