Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner inspects cleanliness works and desilting of rain water drains in south zone areas

Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Prathap inspected the cleanliness works and desilting of rain water drains in the southern zone areas of the city.

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Prathap, who inspected the desilting of storm water drains at Rangaswamy Naidu Nagar, Kuniyamuthur under ward no.93 of Coimbatore Corporation South Zone, ordered removal of roadside encroachments. He directed the engineer to repair the damaged road immediately. Later, an inspection of kuniyamuthar - Palakkad road, Edayarpalayam section area and orders to remove the rainwater accumulated on the road and remove the accumulated rainwater from the roadsides immediately. He instructed the engineers to drain out the rainwater by repairing the storm water drain in Balu Garden area under ward no.92.



Subsequently, he listened to the grievances of the public about the water supply in the Balu Garden area. Later, he personally inspected the vinayagar temple area where the corporation's sanitation workers were engaged in segregating and collecting biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. He instructed the sanitation workers to create awareness among the public in the area to classify the garbage into biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.



He also inspected the completion of 850 metres of desilting of the canal in E.B. Colony, Kovai Pudur Division. He directed the officials to take steps to complete the works in a quality and expeditious manner and put them to use. He also directed the Engineer to inspect the ongoing tar road works at a cost of Rs.51.74 lakhs for a distance of 942 metres in the area and take steps to complete the work in a quality and expeditious manner and put it to use.



Corporation Commissioner M. Prathap visited the Corporation School at Kuniyamuthur and directed the engineers to prepare a project estimate for construction of additional classrooms and toilets in the school and get approval and take up the works at the earliest.



Deputy Mayor R. Vetriselvan, South Zone President Dhanalakshmi, Councillors Senthil Kumar and Ilanchekaran, Assistant Commissioner Annadurai, Assistant Executive Engineer Karuppusamy, Zonal Health Officer Ramu and corporation officials were present during the inspection.
