Instead of opening schools, 'DMK government is keen to open liquor shops', PMK protests in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) staged a protest yesterday in Coimbatore against the DMK government for trying to open liquor shops instead of opening and running schools well.

“Former Chief Minister Kamaraj inaugurated several government schools in Tamil Nadu. But today they are gradually closing down government schools. This year alone, 40 government schools have been closed.



669 government schools have recorded single-digit enrolment. These schools may also be closed in the coming days. This is the situation in government schools today. However, the Tamil Nadu government has not taken any action on the opening of schools and upgradation of government schools and is concentrating on opening liquor shops.



In Coimbatore, Paattali Makkal Katchi staged a protest demonstration at Singanallur Uzhavar Santhai area in Coimbatore. Led by Coimbatore PMK West District Secretary Ashok Srinithi, the protest raised slogans condemning the Tamil Nadu government's opening of liquor shops and bars that are “destroying the country and the youth

The PMK cadres participated in the protest carrying banners questioning the government.If the Tamil Nadu government does not stop this trend immediately, they will launch a massive protest in Coimbatore under the leadership of Paattali Makkal Katchi leader Anbumani Ramadoss.
