Droupadi Murmu, who was leading in the presidential election, has been elected as the Presidential candidate. This was celebrated by BJP workers led by Vanathi Srinivasan by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.
Coimbatore: The counting of votes for the 15th Presidential election slated to be held in India happened yesterday. NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu has been selected based on the votes of MPs and MLAs.
BJP party started the celebrations by distributing sweets in R.S. Puram. BJP office-bearers and members led by National Women's Wing president and South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan burst crackers and distributed sweets to the public.
Speaking to reporters later, Vanathi Srinivasan said that the counting of votes for the president of the country is underway and Draupadi Murmu is leading as of now. "Social justice is not just a word, it is not a rhetoric, and the BJP is a party that can implement it in every act," she said.
She said the BJP had created a situation where a woman from the remotest village in Odisha could be seen as the first citizen of the country because of her hard work, proving that women born in a very small village can also be educated," he said.
Moreover, the BJP and the Prime Minister upholds inclusive growth and equal opportunity for all in this country. "Today, we are organizing various events across the country to congratulate her and the victory celebrations in Coimbatore and every part of the country have started from today," he said.
She also said that the victory celebrations will continue till Sunday. She said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to organise celebration programmes, especially in villages inhabited by tribals."We are leading with a huge margin that the candidate who stood against us could not come close," she said, adding that even before the elections, not only the NDA parties but also the parties outside the alliance had given a huge support to their candidates.
Coimbatore district BJP president Balaji Ramasamy, BJP youth wing state secretary Preethi Lakshmi and more than 50 BJP workers were present on the occasion.
