8 sovereign gold jewellery stolen from elderly woman in Tirupur; robbers claimed themselves to be police

In Tirupur, the police are investigating the people who allegedly stole 8 pounds of gold jewelry from an old lady in a fake manner.


Tirupur: The police are investigating to nab the robbers who allegedly stole 8 sovereign of gold jewelery from an old lady in Tirupur.

Valliammal, a widow is living alone in Thennampalayam Colony area near Tiruppur. She is also doing testing work in a banyan company in that area.

Valliammal was walking in that area to go to the market place. At that time, 2 people were standing on a motorcycle in that area. When Vallimmal passed by them, suddenly one of them called Vallimmal and they both introduced themselves as policemen. They have said that they have come to investigate robbery thefts from this area.

They said that they have come to conduct an investigation in this regard. They have asked Valliammal to remove her 4 sovereign gold chain and 4 sovereign bangles from her and said that they will put it in a purse and give it to her.

Believing this, Valliammal took off her jewels and gave it to them. The two unidentified persons kept it in a purse and just as they were about to give it to her they diverted the attention and gave her a different wallet and put it in Valliammal’s bag.



Following this, in the blink of an eye, both of them left the spot on a motorcycle. Meanwhile Valliammal got suspicious and came home and saw the purse, which contained stones. Shocked by this, she went to the Tirupur South Police along with her relatives and lodged a complaint.

The police have registered a case and are looking for the unidentified persons who stole 8 sovereign of jewelery in this old fashioned manner by pretending to be the police from the old lady.



Also, the surveillance camera in the area recorded the image of the unidentified persons. Police are investigating with CCTV footage.
