Coimbatore: Forest Minister Ramachandran made a surprise inspection in Pethikkuttai Forest Research Center near Karamadai and other areas.



Tamil Nadu Forest Minister Ramachandran, at the Forest Genetics Zone Pethikutta Research Centre, examined the research work being conducted with the thorn plants Cereus pterogonus and Cylindropuntia ramosissima as living fences to prevent wild animals, especially wild elephants, from leaving the forest and damaging nearby villages and agricultural lands.



Following this, he inspected the site selected for setting up a wildlife rescue, treatment and rehabilitation center in the Coimbatore Vanakottam, Chirumugai Vanacharagam, Pethikuttai area and then went to the Bhavanisagar Dam reservoir area in the Pudukkadu area.

From there he went by boat to the anti-poaching camp in Kootamundi North Circle Forest and inspected the anti-poaching works and the camp works.

Conservator of Forests and Field Director Ramasubramaniam, District Forest Officer Ashokumar, Assistant Conservator of Forests Senthilkumar, Forest Officers, Sirumugai Forest Department, Mettupalayam Forest Department, Coimbatore Research Department, Forest staff were present during the inspection.
