Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore International Airport, Minister Ma. Subramanian stated that CMCH in Coimbatore is geared up for the treatment of monkeypox.
Coimbatore: The Central Government has taken steps to set up 15 laboratories through ICMR to detect monkeypox.
"We have asked for one of these for Tamil Nadu and once it arrives, it will be set up at the King's Institute," stated Ma. Subramanian, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare of Tamil Nadu in an interaction with the media at the Coimbatore International Airport. "At all the international airports in Tamil Nadu, travellers from 63 foreign countries which have cases of Monkeypox are being closely monitored. At Coimbatore International Airport, where two international flights arrive, up to 170 passengers arrive from abroad and two percent of those coming from abroad are being randomly tested. So far, not a single person has been diagnosed with Coronavirus or monkeypox. An RT-PCR center at the airport is also on standby. A one-bedded room has also been kept ready," he added.

The TN Health Minister also added, "A special 10-bed monkeypox ward has also been kept ready at Government Hospitals in Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy and Chennai. The monkeypox ward at the CMCH will start functioning tomorrow and the Union government has taken steps to detect 15 laboratories through ICMR to detect monkeypox. Tamil Nadu has asked for one of these and once it arrives, it will be set up at the King's Institute. The Public Health Department is in the process of monitoring monkeypox victims on 13 routes between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The Coimbatore District Collector is constantly monitoring cases of monkeypox and if there are blisters on the face and elbows of people, they are also being monitored. Moreover, with the number of Coronavirus cases increasing, compulsory use of masks and sanitizers has been advised. 96 percent for the first dose of vaccine, and the work of administering the second dose of 86 percent and booster vaccines is also progressing at a rapid pace. Mega vaccination drives will be held at 50,000 locations on the coming Sunday."

Ma. Subramanian also clarified that it was not clear why the Central Minister of State for Finance had said that there was a slowdown in the 'Ayushman Bharat' work. "He would have unknowingly said it or if he is ready to point out what needs to be corrected, we will fix it. People are being treated at their homes. Even the furthest man will get treatment in Tamil Nadu," reiterated the TN Health Minister.
