The police handed over the seized 1600 kg of ration rice, the vehicle used for smuggling and the person driving the vehicle to the Civil Supplies Department officials.
Coimbatore: Even as Aliyar police were patrolling the areas of Paramadaiyur, Reddiarur and Arthanaripalayam near Pollachi, a Tata Sumo vehicle that was passing by was stopped and checked. It was discovered that 15 bags of ration rice was being smuggled in the car.
During further investigation of Matheswaran from Pollachi who was driving the car, it was reported that some more ration bags of rice were found near the Reddiyarmaddam. Subsequently, ration rice from 17 bags was seized from the spot.
