Coimbatore: The suicide of a girl student from a private school in Kallakurichi allegedly due to torture caused by teachers has caused a huge stir across Tamil Nadu with violent protests erupting across the State.
As various parties joined the protest demanding justice for the loss of the student's life, Kallakurichi district itself became the field of protest. In this case, the private school confederation had announced on Sunday that private schools will not function in Tamil Nadu on Monday. On the other hand, the Directorate of Matriculation Schools has announced that holidays should not be declared in private schools without prior permission.

As far as Coimbatore district is concerned, most of the schools are functioning as usual, with just a few private schools closed.
