Coimbatore: A newborn girl who was dumped in a bush in Coimbatore has been handed over to the Child Protection Department after her health improved.
The newborn girl was found in a bush in SIHS Colony area of Coimbatore district at around 7 am on June 8. She was admitted to the Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital for special treatment.
Geethanjali, the Head of the Department of Pediatrics and CMCH Dean Nirmala stated that the treatment for the infant had been carried out in the neonatal unit, under the constant care and vigil of nurses.

Since the infant's health had improved and her weight has increased from 1.5 kg to 2.06 kg leading to her being stable and healthy, she was handed over to the District Child Protection Officer for child care in the presence of the CMCH Dean and Assistant Resident Medical Officers.
