Kuniyamuthur police are investigating the murder of the owner of a wedding decor company in Coimbatore over a money dispute.

Coimbatore: In Coimbatore, the owner of a wedding decor company was stabbed to death over a money dispute.

Santosh Kumar (34) who hails from Sundarapuram SIDCO in Coimbatore is married and has a 4-year-old son, and owns a wedding decor company. Santosh Kumar was reportedly working in Manikandan's company, from Kuniyamuthur area, for the last eight months. Manikandan has reportedly taken a loan of Rs. 4 lakh from Santosh Kumar, out of which he has repaid Rs.3 lakh, with Rs.1 lakh due outstanding.

An argument regarding the loan dues seems to have broken out between Manikandan and Santosh Kumar on Thursday afternoon. Manikandan reportedly gave Santosh Kumar a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh. Thereafter, Manikandan's brother Sudhir (29) is said to have called Santosh on the phone on Thursday and told him to return the cheque and take cash as settlement of the loan dues.

Subsequently, Santosh Kumar along with his friend Murali Manohar reportedly went to Sudhir's house in P K Pudur area of Kuniyamuthur. An argument broke out between Sudhir and Santosh Kumar. It is alleged that Sri Hari, the younger brother who was with Sudhir caught hold of Santosh Kumar, while Sudhir stabbed him with a hidden knife.

Santosh Kumar's friend, Murali Manohar, who tried to stop Sudhir was also injured in the scuffle after Sudhir stabbed him too with the knife. Subsequently, while Sudhir and Sri Hari escaped from the spot, Murali Manohar took Santhosh Kumar, who had collapsed with serious injuries, in his car and admitted him to a nearby private hospital.

But since Santosh Kumar's condition became critical, he was referred to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for further treatment but died there without treatment. The Kuniyamuthur police who were informed of the incident, conducted an investigation.

Subsequently, the police arrested Sri Hari and are on the lookout for Sudhir who is absconding.
