Project to transport water from Aliyar to Oddanchatram should be cancelled - BJP protests in Pollachi..!

District President Vasantharajan has warned that the Anaimalaiyar and Nallar projects should be completed and only then other projects should be implemented and the project to transport water to Oddanchatram area should be cancelled or else protests will continue.

Coimbatore: The BJP held a demonstration in Pollachi demanding the cancellation of the project to transport water from the Aliyar Dam to Oddanchatram area.

A protest was held at Pollachi's Thiruvalluvar Thidal on behalf of Coimbatore South District Bharatiya Janata Party demanding that the Tamil Nadu government should cancel the project of transporting water from the Aliyar dam near Pollachi to Oddanchatram area and immediately implement the Anaimalayar and Nallaru projects.

More than 500 Bharatiya Janata Party members participated in the demonstration led by District President Vasantha Rajan and raised slogans condemning the Tamil Nadu government for not implementing the Anaimalayar and Nallar project, which has been the demand of the farmers for many years.

After the construction of Idamalayar Dam in Kerala, the Anaimalayar Nallar Project can be implemented in Tamil Nadu, despite the agreement between the two states, several rounds of talks were held to implement this project in the previous AIADMK regime.

They alleged that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu who promised to implement the Anaimalai project in the DMK election manifesto after the change of government, has not taken any action so far. In the last twenty years there have been droughts without water five times and thousands of coconut trees have dried up and farmers have suffered.

Therefore, District President Vasantharajan has warned that after the implementation of the Anaimalayar Nallaru project, other projects should be implemented and the project to bring water to Oddanchatram area should be canceled, otherwise the protests will continue.
