The enraged youth was overpowered by office colleagues of the woman and handed over to the Race Course police station in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: A 21-year-old woman from Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore who works as a trainee in the Finance Department of a private firm in Lakshmi Mills area was stabbed in her office by a youth she had befriended over Instagram. The youth was enraged at being refused by the woman when he professed his love for her.
It is learned that the woman and Dinesh (26), son of Shanmugalingam, a native of Nethimedu in Salem district had been friends over Instagram for two years. Dinesh had arrived in Coimbatore a few days ago and met the woman to profess his love for her. The woman reportedly refused his proposal of love and thereon blocked his mobile number on her phone. Enraged by this, Dinesh arrived at her workplace on Monday and threatened her again to accept his love proposal. However, when the woman refused again, Dinesh reportedly took out a knife he had hidden and stabbed her on the face, shoulder and head, in broad daylight in her office. Shocked colleagues of the woman overpowered Dinesh and handed him over to the Race Course police station in Coimbatore.
Following this, the police arrested Dinesh and registered a case under various Sections, including Attempt to Murder, produced him in court and lodged him in jail.
