City's 25th Ward residents petition Collector on behalf of MNM for solution to spread of 'sewage' infections

The petition demanded the clearing of a large sewage stream in the residential area behind the police station.

Coimbatore: On behalf of the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), the residents of Coimbatore 25th ward living in the Gandhi Ma Nagar police station limits, submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran, demanding the clearing of a large sewage stream in the residential area behind the police station.

City Organiser, IT team Bala Manikandan said, "The sewage from the sewage treatment plant in the area gets mixed into the stream causing a foul smell all across the area, and also causing frequent blockages due to solid waste sans access to the stream water, thus leading to the risk of infections being spread. Several representations to the Corporation administration have been made in this regard as well as complaints to the Chief Minister's cell. Once the Singanallur underground sewerage works are completed, I have advised for the sewage stream to be linked to it as a temporary solution."
