Over 50 victims of 'Job in Singapore, Handsome salary' scam file complaint in Coimbatore with SP

The victims sought action against a private company that duped them of money by promising a job in Singapore with a good salary.

Coimbatore: Over 50 victims lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badri Narayanan alleging that a company named Construction Aport Tourist and Travels operating out of Vadavalli had cheated them of money on the pretext of getting them jobs in Singapore with a good salary.

According to the victims, it is alleged that they contacted the company after seeing the advertisement of the company in the newspapers which promised jobs for Engineers as well as admin roles in Singapore. The company reportedly received Rs. 1 lakh from each of them for supposedly registration work. The company had promised them that would do their required Covid tests in Chennai and then be flown to Singapore. The victims complained that no vehicle arrived to pick them up until the afternoon of July 8, and when they tried to contact the company on the phone, the phone line was not available. It was then that the victims realised they had been cheated.

Further, it is revealed that the company had defrauded over 100 people from across Tamil Nadu by looting them of up to Rs. 3 crores. A complaint has been lodged at the Vadavalli Police Station against the fraudulent company as well as at the office of the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police. The victims demanded that the District Superintendent of Police take immediate action against the company to recover their money.
