While O Panneerselvam and three of his supporters were expelled from the AIADMK party in Chennai, slogans against OPS were raised in Coimbatore by EPS supporters.
Coimbatore: Even as the battle for single leadership in the AIADMK party had intensified in the past week, O Panneerselvam and three of his supporters were expelled from the AIADMK party at the E Palaniswami-led general council meeting in Vanagaram, on Monday. There are reports of both party cadres attacking each other in Chennai, on Monday.
Resolutions to change the party by-laws and remove the dual leadership structure of the party were passed and subsequently, Edappadi K Palaniswami was appointed as the interim General secretary of the AIADMK.
Meanwhile, supporters of Edappadi K Palaniswami in Coimbatore removed the portrait of O Panneerselvam from the Idhaya Deivam Maaligai - the AIADMK headquarters near the Anna Statue area and hurled shoes at the portrait.
They also raised slogans against OPS for allegedly barging into the general council meeting in Chennai.
