Coimbatore: TiE Coimbatore, a large network of entrepreneurs from the city hosted the first edition of GreenCon, a one-day conclave at The Residency Towers, on Saturday.

With over 300 participants and 15 speakers from different domains across the nation,
GreenCon 2022 aims at bridging the gap between businesses and sustainability,. The speakers inspired the spectators by sharing the sustainable measures adopted in their business operations. Profit not at the cost of the planet, they emphasised in their speech.

"We have to be mindful with nature and the planet, because there is no Planet B. Sustainability is not just a buzz word, it is a requirement. 'GreenCon' is all about inspiring people and making them aware that sustainability is the way forward, there is no alternate agenda," expressed Ranjana Singhal, President, TiE Coimbatore at 'GreenCon 2022.'

Sharing his views on why sustainability is imperative, actor-turned -politician, Kamal Haasan in a special virtual address, said, "I am of the opinion that any business will be sustainable only when it is aware, conscious and becomes a guardian of the environment;.
without which you will destroy your business. if not today, tomorrow."
Kamal Haasan commenced TiE, Coimbatore for organizing an event to elaborate and shine more light on the serious issues faced by our planet and businesses. "There might be the talk of another living planet somewhere in the galaxy. It is too far ahead by at least 10 generations, hence we better take care of the world we live in," he added.

Farhad Contractor, Founder of Sambhaav Trust briefed the work his team has done in Rajasthan to transform a rough land into a thriving green, fertile land. He highlighted the waste water treatment work done at Bannari Amman Institute, Coimbatore, and also shared a few ideas of changing swarms into parks, and making big office spaces, green and sustainable, for instance like the Krushi Bhavan in Odissa.
Meanwhile, Coimbatore's social entrepreneur, Arunachalam Murugananthan shared with the participants on how he converted a social problem into a successful green and sustainable entrepreneurship.
Other speakers including Karthik Chandrasekar (Sangam Ventures), Megha Desai Asher and Pritesh Asher (Juicy Chemistry), Nishita & Nikita Baliarsingh (Nexus Power), Ankit Agarwal( Phool), Giridhar JG, CEO of Sierra- ODC, Jui Joshi (Climate Collective) and Chaitsi Ahuja (Brown Living) addressed the participants and shared how they have made their businesses green and sustainable.
