Arulmozhi was elected as the new President of OSMA, Chandrasekaran as Secretary and Francis Xavier as Treasurer.
Coimbatore: The executive committee meeting of the Open End Spinning Mills Association (OSMA) was held in Coimbatore. At the meeting, Arulmozhi was elected as the new President of OSMA.
Chandrasekharan has been elected as the Secretary of OSMA, Francis Xavier as the Treasurer, Anush Ramasamy as Mentor, Murugesan(Palladam) as Mentor, Senthil Kumar (Vellakoil), Suresh Kumar (Palladam) and Bharathi (Tirupur) as Joint Secretaries of the Association.
With 600 open-end mills functioning in Tamil Nadu, the work of producing yarn using waste cotton from spinning mills is effectively being carried out in open-end mills. Two lakh people have been directly and indirectly employed in these mills.
Tamil Nadu produces 25 lakh kg of grey yarn and 15 lakh kg of recycled colour yarn per day. A special committee will be constituted on behalf of the Association to import the main raw materials used in open-end mills such as cotton waste cotton, baniyan cutting waste, etc., from countries like Bangladesh, Vietnam and Indonesia. It was also decided to set up a high-level expert committee to improve quality, production and sales in open-end spinning mills.
Several resolutions were passed at the meeting.
